Sandi Owens
M.Ed. ATVI, TVI
Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist
My name is Sandi Owens. I am an Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist, CEO of Making It Visible Inc., and the current President of the North Carolina Council of the Blind. My passion to serve the visually impaired community stems from my personal journey with vision loss. My career began as a middle school Math teacher, where I taught stateside and internationally. Due to a decrease in my vision. I had to step away from being a public-school teacher. In 2021, I decided to attend North Carolina Central University for a Master’s in Assistive Technology for the Visually Impaired and a master’s in teaching students Who are Visually Impaired. In May 2024, I graduated with a Master’s in Assistive Technology for the Visually Impaired and became a licensed Teacher of the Visually Impaired Student. My experience, expertise, and passion drove me to establish Making It Visible Inc in 2024. Every obstacle served as a steppingstone in my journey to make a difference in the world of visual impairments, bringing forth awareness, advocacy, education, and inspiration to all who will listen.
